Explains why the removal of Pinning functionality in Windows Explorer is expected behavior with the 16.7 version of the driver.
After installation of the 16.7 version of the driver, there is no longer an option to pin files to Intel Optane memory in Windows Explorer.
This is expected behavior. An issue was found in the Intel® RST version 16.7 driver/applications that results in an increase in the CPU utilization by the Windows File Explorer*.
it was root caused to be related to the Intel® Optane™ Memory Pinning Explorer Extensions, which when installed, enables pinning through Windows File Explorer.
These extensions were removed from the default Intel® RST 16.7 driver package installation to mitigate the impact from this issue.

If you still wish to use the pinning capability in the Windows File Explorer, it is best to update to the latest supported drivers and software (version 16.8.3).
