2.2. Getting Started with the Ashling* RiscFree* IDE for Altera® FPGAs

RiscFree* IDE for Altera® FPGAs provides a consistent development platform that works for all Nios® V embedded processor systems. You can accomplish all Nios® V processor software development tasks within RiscFree IDE, including creating, editing, building, running, and debugging programs. RiscFree* IDE for Altera® FPGAs supports Nios® V processor and Arm core debugging in multiple host operating system (OS) platforms.
Note: If you install both the Quartus® Prime software and the Quartus® Prime Programmer and Tools in the same location as RiscFree* IDE for Altera® FPGAs IDE, it refers to the required binaries from the Quartus® Prime software installation directory by default.
