There is only one approach in preserving the Nios® II processor core to allow successful design compilation in the newer Quartus® Prime software version.
- The QIP approach simplifies the migration process by eliminating the use of Generate HDL, and IP Upgrade. This is the only option to preserve Nios® II processor in Quartus® Prime Standard Edition software.
- The QSYS approach is not supported in Quartus® Prime Standard Edition software. This is because Blackbox assignment is not supported, and Quartus® Prime Standard Edition software always regenerate design files during the analysis an synthesis stage.
