2.2. Preserving the Nios® II Processor in Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
There are two approaches in preserving the Nios® II processor core to allow successful design compilation in Quartus® Prime Pro Edition version 24.1 and onwards:
- The QSYS approach preserves the Nios® II processor core into a Generic Component in Platform Designer. Altera recommends this approach because it allows you to upgrade other IP cores using the Quartus® Prime IP Upgrade, which is not supported in the QIP approach.
- The QIP approach simplifies the migration process by eliminating the use of Blackbox assignment, Generate HDL, and IP Upgrade.
