2.2.1.2. Handling Software Component as Eclipse IDE Project
There are no options to run software development in Quartus_2. Altera removes any related executable binaries for Nios® II software development along with the discontinuation of the Nios® II processor. For example, the components needed to install Eclipse* IDE are no longer available after Nios® II discontinuation.
Altera suggests you continue software development in Quartus_1. Ensure your Nios® II software project is based on the Quartus_1 SOPCINFO file.
- Verify the version for Quartus_1 SOPCINFO using the following methods:
- Verify the format version for Quartus_1. In the example shown in the figure below, the version is 23.4.79.

- Verify the className is altera_nios2_gen2 as shown in the following figure.

- Verify the format version for Quartus_2 is 24.1.115 as shown in the following figure.

Note: In this example, the Nios® II processor is converted to a generic component in Quartus_2, which uses Quartus® Prime Pro Edition version 24.1. Format version 24.1 is the key indicator that this SOPCINFO file is from Quartus_2. - Verify the format version for Quartus_1. In the example shown in the figure below, the version is 23.4.79.
