Before proceeding to preserve the Nios® II processor IP core, ensure that you meet the following prerequisites:
- You have a working Nios® II processor system from the older Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software version.
- You are familiar with the related development tools, such as Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software, Platform Designer, Board Support Package Editor, and Nios® II Software Build Tools for Eclipse.
The Nios® II processor development flow consists of two components, and each has a specific procedure to carry out the preservation:
- Hardware component as Quartus® Prime Pro Edition project
- Software component as Eclipse IDE project
