2.2.2.2. Handling Software Component as Eclipse IDE Project
There are no options to run software development in Quartus_2. Any related executable binaries for Nios® II software development have been removed along with the discontinuation of Nios® II processor from Quartus® Prime Pro Edition version 24.1 and newer. For example, the components needed to install Nios® II EDS can no longer be found after Nios® II discontinuation.
Thus, Altera recommends you continue software development in Quartus_1. Note that Quartus_2 cannot run Generate HDL (in Handling Hardware Component in the Quartus® Prime Project). Without Generate HDL, Quartus_2 cannot generate a new SOPCINFO file. Thus, you must preserve Quartus_1 SOPCINFO. Nevertheless, verifying the Quartus_1 SOPCINFO file is a good practice.
