Inside MassRobotics, the energy felt equal parts robotics lab, startup accelerator and Boston innovation hub. Founders, engineers and developers gathered for Intel’s Building Physical AI at the Edge workshop, bringing together people working across autonomous systems, industrial automation, healthcare robotics, computer vision and edge AI.
At the center of the conversation was a challenge facing robotics companies everywhere: How do you scale intelligent robots from promising prototypes into real-world deployments?
Nagesh Puppala, general manager of robotics at Intel, joined the MassRobotics community to dig into the technologies behind that transition, including real-time AI inference, sensor processing, workload consolidation, power efficiency, software portability and edge compute.
Intel’s strategy is focused on giving robotics developers an open, scalable foundation for Physical AI, bringing AI inference and real-time control together while supporting open ecosystem. The goal is to help developers build robotics systems that can perceive, reason and act in the real world, and scale those systems across industries and use cases.
But the real story at MassRobotics was the people in the room: entrepreneurs asking hard questions, engineers trading ideas and startups building what’s next.
The question is no longer simply whether Physical AI can work. It’s how we scale it.
And in Boston, there was no shortage of people ready to build the answer.
