3.8.6. Secure Device Manager Partial Reconfiguration Simulation Model

The Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software supports simulating the delivery of a partial reconfiguration bitstream to the Intel® Stratix® 10 and Intel Agilex® 7 secure device manager (SDM).

The SDM is a self-contained system-on-chip that securely manages the boot and configuration process, provides secure key storage, enforces security policies, and provides security services during runtime for Intel® Stratix® 10 and Intel Agilex® 7 devices. Simulation with the SDM allows you to observe the resulting change and the intermediate effect in a reconfigurable partition.

When you send a simulation RBF (PR bitstream) to the SDM, the SDM can respond with a PR simulation success or PR simulation failure message.

To activate simulation of a specific PR persona in your PR region simulation wrapper, you use a PR ID encoded in the simulation RBF, in conjunction with the SDM.

You simulate the SDM as part of the simulation file set for the Partial Reconfiguration Controller Intel® FPGA IP and the Partial Reconfiguration External Configuration Controller IP that is available for Intel® Stratix® 10 devices.
