2.1.1.1.6. SATA/SAS

SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) and SAS (Serial Attached Small Computer System Interface) modes in the GTS PMA/FEC Direct PHY IP enable you to design the high-speed interfaces for the Agilex™ 5 GTS transceiver used for connecting storage devices like hard drives and SSDs in computers and servers. SATA offers data transfer rates of 1.5Gbps (SATA I), 3Gbps (SATA II) and 6Gbps (SATA III) which are commonly used in consumer desktops and laptops. On the other hand, SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) is designed for enterprise environments, supporting higher data rates from 3Gbps (SAS-1), 6Gbps (SAS-2), 12Gbps (SAS-3) and 22.5Gbps (SAS-4) along with advanced features like dual-porting to improve reliability.
