2.3.2.5.2. RX Manual Equalization Mode

The RX manual equalization mode should be enabled in the GTS PMA/FEC Direct PHY IP when the data rate is ≤ 7 Gbps and protocol mode is Basic, CPRI, HDMI, SDI, SATA/SAS, OTN, or for all data rates when in GPON mode.

When RX manual equalization mode is selected, you must configure the RX equalizer settings in the Analog Parameters tab to the optimum value based on your link requirement, as the equalizer value is not adapted automatically. There are some baseline preset values for these RX analog parameters when configured in this mode, and they are:
  • VGA gain: 37
  • High frequency boost: 29
  • DFE Tap 1: 23
You can modify these RX equalizer values, if the preset values are not optimal for your PMA links, in the Analog Parameters tab of the GUI or use the .qsf assignments to change the settings as explained in the Configuring the RX Adaptation Mode and PMA Manual Tuning section.
