3.8.2. Voltage Regulator Considerations for Agilex™ 5 Migration

Migrating between non-VID and VID-supported devices requires a PMBus-compliant voltage regulator for VCC and VCCP that offers both dynamic and fixed voltage output capabilities.

Migrate From Migrate To Guidelines
Non-VID device VID device Voltage Regulator must be enabled in dynamic mode to allow dynamic voltage output for VID device.
VID supported device Non-VID supported device Users will need to reprogram the Voltage Regulator to provide fixed voltage.

Voltage regulator changes are not necessary when migrating between VID to VID or Non-VID to Non-VID devices.

Migration Type Guidelines
Non-VID device Use Voltage Regulator that supplies fixed voltage output for Non-VID device.
VID supported device Voltage Regulator must be PMBus compliant and support dynamic mode to allow dynamic voltage output for VID devices.
