1.4.2. Verify the JTAG Chain Continuity
For in-system programming to occur successfully, the number of devices in the JTAG chain must match the number reported in the Quartus II software or the MAX+Plus II software.
To verify in the Quartus II software that the JTAG chain is connected properly, follow these steps:
- Open the Programmer in the Quartus II software.
- Click Auto Detect in the Programmer. The Quartus II software reports the number of devices found on the JTAG chain. If this fails, check the JTAG chain to make sure it is not broken.
To verify in the MAX+Plus II software that the JTAG chain is connected properly, follow these steps:
- In the MAX+Plus II Programmer, choose Multi-Device JTAG Chain Setup.
- In the Multi-Device JTAG Chain Setup dialog box, click the Detect JTAG Chain Info button. The MAX+Plus II software reports the amount of devices found on the JTAG chain.
