2.1.21. FPGA-to-HPS (F2H) bridge, HPS warm/cold reset and FPGA reconfiguration issues with SMMU enabled

Description

If the F2H bridge is enabled in HPS Boot First mode, you might observe the following:

  • If you configure the FPGA in U-Boot, initiating a HPS cold/warm reset might result in a Linux boot failure, typically within 10 iterations. You might see the iommu failed with error -110 message in the log.
  • If you configure the FPGA in Linux, initiating a subsequent FPGA reconfiguration might fail, typically within 10 iterations. You might see arm-smmu-v3 16000000.iommu: CMD_SYNC timeout at 0x000037d4 [hwprod 0x000037d5, hwcons 0x00003594] message in the log. Initiating a HPS cold/warm reset does not reboot the system successfully.
  • F2H bridge works during first FPGA configuration but fails after subsequent FPGA reconfiguration.
