New Features

The Intel® Fortran Compiler (ifx) is now fully compliant with Fortran 2018.

New Features

  • Fortran 2023 TYPEOF and CLASSOF statements allow entities to be declared with the same type and type parameters as another entity.
  • Fortran 2023 reallocation of allocated deferred length character variables that are argument associated with INTENT (OUT) and INTENT (INOUT) dummy arguments of intrinsic procedures to the length of their return value avoids truncation of return values and the need to trim trailing blanks from them when padded.
  • The fimf-precision option allows a user to specify the level of accuracy the compiler should use when choosing math library functions to use.
  • The floop-blocking option controls the loop blocking optimzation performed by the compiler.
  • The floop-collapsing option enables/disables loop collapsing performed by the compiler when transforming loops.
  • The floop-distribution option enables/disables loop distribution optimization performed during the loop transformation phase of the compiler.
  • The floop-fusion option controls loop fusion optimizations performed by the compiler.
  • The floop-interchange option controls loop interchange optimizations.
  • The floop-multiversioning option controls whether the compiler creates multiple versions of loop during the loop transformation phase.
  • The floop scalar-replacement option enables/disables replacement of some loops with scalar code.
  • The floop-unroll-and-jam option enables/disables loop unrolling and jam optimizations.
  • The fopenmp-loop-threadization-level option specifies one or more optimizer phases for which optimization reports are to be generated.
  • The fopenmp-vector-aware-collapse option improves vectorization efficiency on the CPU for OpenMP* collapse constructs.
  • The qopt-report-routine specifies procedure name for which optimization reports are to be generated.
  • The save-offload-code option causes the compiler to write device code to the specified user directory.

New OpenMP* Features

  • The OpenMP 6.1 adjust-op fallback modifiers FB_NULLIFY and FB_PRESERVE in an ADJUST_ARGS clause of a DECLARE VARIANT directive specifiy the behavior if an argument does not have a device mapping.
  • The OpenMP 6.0 TRANSPARENT clause controls the visibility/propagation of a construct's dependencies across construct boundaries.
  • The OpenMP 5.1 lower-bound modifier in a NUM_TEAMS clause on a TEAMS directive provides a user a way to specify the minimum number of teams to be created for the construct.
