For the dynamic power, Altera® requires that you multiply the dynamic current for each power supply rail indicated in the FPGA Power and Thermal Calculator for the design by 1.2 for sizing the voltage regulator.
Altera® recommends that the voltage regulator for each supply rail have sufficient adjustment to allow for -5% to +10% from the nominal voltage. This guideline also applies to regulators used with SmartVID.
