1.1. Nios® V Processor Software Development Environment

Nios® V processor tools refer to the development tools ecosystem enabled by Intel which comprises hardware and software development, debugging, and simulation. The Nios® V processor tools allow you to perform the following tasks:
  • Create software projects, with detailed control over the software build process.
  • Create and manage single-threaded programs and complex applications using RTOS and middleware libraries available from Intel® FPGA IP and third-party vendors.

Install the latest release of the Intel® Quartus® Prime software on the Windows*or Linux* operating system. Following that, you can find the Nios® V processor tools package in the directory: <Intel Quartus Prime installation directory>\niosv. You need to acquire the free license for the Nios® V processor to compile the design in Intel® Quartus® Prime software.
