7.1.5. VW message to Physical Port Implementation

To assert the output ports that connect to the Virtual Wire channel, the eSPI host issues a PUT_VWIRE command, assigns a Virtual Wire count value, assigns the Virtual Wire index of the corresponding output port, and follows that up with a byte of data and CRC.

For example, when the eSPI host is asserting SLP_S3_n, the Virtual Wire index is 2h and data byte is 8‘b00010110. The Virtual Wire tunneled through eSPI takes effect at the receiver only when the espi_cs_n is deasserted.

When the logical state of the output ports which connect to the Virtual Wire channel changes, the new state must be communicated to the eSPI host. In this case, the eSPI agent core initiates an Alert event to the eSPI host. The eSPI host then triggers a GET_STATUS transaction, followed by a GET_VWIRE transaction.
