Intel FPGA GMII to RGMII converter core is not directly connected to the HPS Ethernet controller. Instead, an intermediate component called the Intel FPGA HPS EMAC interface splitter core is used as a bridge between HPS core and Intel FPGA GMII to RGMII converter core. This intermediate component is responsible for splitting the emac conduit interface output from HPS core into several interfaces according to their function (hps_gmii, ptp, mdio interfaces).
