9.3. Limitations

The following are the limitations when working with third-party IDEs:

  • The Intel® FPGA SDK for OpenCL™ plug-in for Visual Studio does not provide all of the build information in the Output window from the compiler by default. To view the full output from the compiler, go to Tools > Options > Projects and Solutions > Build and Run and set the output and log file verbosity to Detailed.
  • The Intel® FPGA SDK for OpenCL™ extension for Eclipse requires you to launch an Eclipse instance from the terminal session by sourcing the init_opencl.sh script.
  • The C/C++ code editor in Eclipse does not include highlighting of several OpenCL-specific keywords. Additionally, it reports syntax errors for OpenCL functions in the host code.
  • The compiler reports are generated for any build configuration in the Intel® FPGA SDK for OpenCL™ extension for Eclipse. These reports are not available in the Project Explorer window by default. You must refresh the file tree manually.
