“Invalid Configuration Data” Error Message When Running Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA)

How to resolve the “Invalid Configuration Data” error message when running Intel® DSA

Description

When scanning Intel® DSA, an error message appears: Invalid configuration data. Please click "Refresh Results" to try again.

Resolution

In order to resolve the issue:

  1. Wait 30 minutes, then try Refresh Results again.
  2. Restart the Operating System and try Refresh Results again.

If the recommendation above does not resolve the issue, try to do the following below:

  1. Uninstall Intel® Driver & Support Assistant
    1. Open a new tab on a web browser (Firefox, Chrome, or Edge.).
    2. Download and run the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant Uninstaller.
    3. Accept the terms & conditions.
    4. Click on Next.
    5. Click on Close.
  2. Check Windows Integrity
    1. After uninstalling Intel® Driver & Support Assistant, open Command Prompt or CMD as Administrator.
    2. Type in the command DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and let the command finish.
    3. After DISM command is finished, type the command sfc /scannow and let the command finish.
    4. Once the commands are done you may proceed to reboot the computer.
  3. Install Intel® Driver & Support Assistant after reboot
    1. Download and save locally on your device.
    2. Double-click Intel® Driver & Support Assistant Installer.exe file.
    3. Read and agree to the license terms and conditions.
    4. Select Install.
    5. Reboot your computer (Do not start the application yet).
  4. Set the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant Updater service to Automatic
    1. After rebooting the system, in Windows* Search, type Services and scroll to find Intel® Driver & Support Assistant Updater.
    2. Right Click and select properties.
    3. Under Startup, type change it to Automatic (this is set to Manual after installation).
    4. Click Apply.
    5. Open Intel® Driver & Support Assistant.
