System Freezing After Updating to the Latest Intel® Arc™ A770 WHQL Version 4314

Summary

Contains a fix for System Freezes occurring after installing the latest Intel® Arc™ A770 WHQL version 4314.

Description

PC is freezing after installation of the Intel® Arc™ A770 WHQL 4314 driver. The same issue happening with BETA version 4311. Rolled back to WHQL 4255.

Resolution
  1. Make sure Windows Updates have been completed (no pending updates).
  2. Make sure that the latest Basic Input Output System (BIOS) firmware is installed.
    NoteContact your system manufacturer support team to get help with this critical update to avoid any damage.
  3. Perform clean installation of the Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics driver version 31.0.101.4382 or newer.
  4. If the issue persists, uninstall the GPU drivers using the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU).
  • Download the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU).
  • Extract the files to your desktop.
  • Run the DDU, closing the pop-up windows showing notifications for first-time use and options.
  • Close the DDU app.
  • Download Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics driver version 31.0.101.4382 or newer and save it to your desktop.
  • On your Windows search bar, type "recovery options" and select it, then, under Advanced Startup click Restart Now.
  • Select Troubleshoot/Advanced Option/Startup Settings/Restart
  • After restart, select Enable Safe Mode 
  • Restart and it will enter safe mode.
  • Run DDU 
  • On select device type dropdown menu, select GPU, then select INTEL. 
  • Click on the clean and restart button and wait until the process completes.
  • Reinstall Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics driver version 31.0.101.4382 or newer.
