You may see two version numbers with the Intel® Wireless Adapters:
- Software version
This is the software version of the Intel® Wireless Adapter.
- Wi-Fi: Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software
- Bluetooth®: Intel® Wireless Bluetooth® (Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth®)
- WiGig: Intel® Wireless Dock Manager
- Driver version
This is the driver version of the Intel® Wireless Adapter. The driver version may be different than the software/package version mentioned above. You can find it in the Windows* Device Manager:
The software package typically contains various driver versions for different Intel® Wireless Adapter and operating system (OS) combinations. You may find the driver version in a specific software package release by looking at the Detailed Description of that release on the Download Center.
Updates, patches, or fixes in a new software release may only apply to the software or to the driver for certain Intel® Wireless Adapters. For example, when you update the software package, it might not update the wireless adapter driver. This can happen if this package includes the same driver version as the one included in a previous package already installed in your system.
