Does My Intel® Processor Support Microsoft Windows® 10?

Follow the steps below to determine if your processor supports Windows® 10.

  1. Identify the processor in your system:
    1. Press the Windows key and the letter S at the same time. Windows plus S
    2. Type system. Choose System or System Information.
    3. Under Processor, note the processor number listed for the next step.

  2. Go to the product specification site and type the processor number in the search box.

    For example: The processor is i7-8700K.

  3. Select the matching result to open the product specification page.
  4. On the product specification page under Essentials, the second line lists the code name.
    Code name

  5. Note the code name, locate it in the table below, and determine if your processor supports Windows® 10.

    In the example given, the i7-8700K has the code name Coffee Lake. In the table below, we can see that the processor supports Windows® 10, 64-bit.

     

Note If you don't see the code name in the table below, then the processor doesn't support the Windows® 10 driver.

2 Intel Atom® Processors (code name Bay Trail) are supported for Windows® 10, 32-bit platform with the existing drivers that were delivered for Windows* 8.1. We plan to certify Windows* 8.1 drivers for the Windows® 10, 64-bit platform only.

Note: Systems running Windows* 7, Windows* 8, or Windows* 8.1 can use the Get Windows® 10 (GWX) application from Microsoft to confirm your system is compatible. Access the Microsoft Windows® 10 Q&A for more information.
