1.2. Changes to Software Behavior
This section documents instances in which the behavior and default settings of the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software have been changed from earlier releases of the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition software.
Quartus® Prime Pro Edition Version 25.1 introduces the following changes:
- The default installation directory has changed:
- On Windows operating systems, the default installation directory is now C:\altera_pro\<Quartus_version> .
- On Linux operating systems, the default installation directory is now $HOME/altera_pro/Quartus_version .
- Some parts of the Quartus® Prime Pro Edition suite have changed names:
- Intel FPGA IP products are now Altera IP products.
The names of individual IP products will be updated over time to reflect this new name.
- Ashling* RiscFree* IDE for Intel FPGA is now Ashling* RiscFree* IDE for Altera.
- DSP Builder for Intel FPGAs is now DSP Builder.
- Intel FPGA Power and Thermal Calculator is now Power and Thermal Calculator.
- Intel FPGA IP products are now Altera IP products.
- For simulation with Synopsys* VCS*, the " VCS MX " tool flow is now referred to as the " VCS (3-step) flow ". The " VCS " tool flow is now referred to as " VCS (2-step) flow ".
For a list of all the default assignment settings for the latest version of the Quartus® Prime software, refer to the Quartus® Prime Default Settings File (.qdf):
- Linux* operating systems: <Quartus Prime installation directory>/quartus/linux64/assignment_defaults.qdf
- Windows* operating systems: <Quartus Prime installation directory>/quartus/windows64/assignment_defaults.qdf
