The function returns a INTEGER. If val < 0, the input is not a character indicating a transposition operator. Otherwise, the function returns the constant value corresponding to trans.

Specifies the form of the system of equations:

If trans = 'N': No transpose.

If trans = 'T': Transpose.

If trans = 'C': Conjugate Transpose.
