Intel® Data Streaming Accelerator (Intel® DSA) is a high-performance data copy and transformation accelerator in the 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processor. In the DPDK Vhost library, a high proportion of core cycles is spent on packet copying when the packet size is large. Intel® DSA provides high bandwidth and low latency for data movement and hence, is an ideal accelerator to boost the performance of DPDK Vhost library. This guide describes the integration of DSA support via dmadev into the DPDK Vhost library. It discusses the integration approach and explains the need for new asynchronous Vhost APIs to provide significant performance benefits.
