Why doesn't my Quartus II XCVR_RX_LINEAR_EQUALIZER_CONTROL QSF assignment have any effect on the Stratix V GX equalizer in Quartus II software versions 12.1 and 12.1sp1.

Environment

    Quartus® II Subscription Edition
BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description

Due to a bug in Quartus® II software versions 12.1 and 12.1sp1, the XCVR_RX_LINEAR_EQUALIZER_CONTROL QSF assignment may not have an effect on the Stratix® V GX equalizer.

Resolution

To work around this issue you should write the equalization value through the Avalon® Memory Mapped interface.

Alternatively you can install the following appropriate patch.

Quartus II software version 12.1

Quartus II software version 12.1 SP1 dp6

This issue will be fixed in a future version of the Quartus II software.
