Why does the Qsys interval timer not work as a watchdog?

Description

In all versions of the Quartus® II software Qsys tool prior to 12.0, the interval timer does not export the reset output interface. This interface is used by the watchdog timer to indicate that the watchdog has expired. The lack of a reset output means that the watchdog timer is unable to reset the Qsys system on expiry of the timer.

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in version 12.0 and later of the Quartus II software.
