IP Compiler for PCI Express Testbench Simulation Might Not Work When Target Device is Cyclone IV GX

If your Quartus II installation does not include Stratix IV devices, and your IP Compiler for PCI Express instance targets a Cyclone IV GX device, the testbench does not simulate correctly with the Altera-provided testbench. The error message complains of a missing pcie_hard_ip_0_pcie_bfm_0 file.

This issue affects IP Compiler for PCI Express instances targeting Cyclone IV GX devices using a custom Quartus II installation that does not include the Stratix IV device family or using the Quartus II Web Edition software.

The workaround is to simulate using a third-party testbench, or to include the Stratix IV GX device family when you install the Quartus II software. However, the second option is not available with the Quartus II Web Edition.

This issue will be fixed in a future version of the IP Compiler for PCI Express.
