How can I configure the APEXTM device on the ExcaliburTM development board featuring the NiosTM embedded processor?

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description The APEX 20KE device on the Excalibur development board featuring the Nios embedded processor can be configured using the ByteBlasterMVTM download cable in Joint Test Action Group (JTAG) mode. Set the switch SW8 to connect and the switches SW9 and SW10 to bypass. The configuration is initiated from the programmer window in the QuartusTM software.

Alternatively, the APEX device can be configured with the factory image which is stored in the on-board Flash (location 1C0000 to 1FFFFF). The MAX® device is factory programmed to function as a configuration controller. It will first look for a user image in Flash (location 180000 to 1BFFFF). If it does not find any data in that location, it will configure the APEX with the default factory image.
