Why won't the MAX PLUS® II software validate my authorization code when my software guard is recognized when using the Windows NT operating system?

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description If the MAX PLUS II software cannot validate your authorization code when running under Windows NT, perform the following steps:
  1. Verify that the maxplus2.ini file is readable and writable.
  2. Open the Windows NT Control Panel and double-click on System to open the System dialog box.
  3. Create a new environment variable pointing to the location of your maxplus2.ini file:
    1. Type maxplus2_ini in the Variable box.
    2. Type the path to your maxplus2.ini file in the Value box.
    3. Choose Set.
    4. Choose OK.
  4. Reboot your PC.
