Why do I get a “Failed to initialize drivers” error when loading my Stratix 10 device E-tile Transceiver PHY variant into System Console?

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition

Due to a problem in the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro software versions 19.3 and earlier, if a Stratix® 10 device E-tile Transceiver PHY variant is created with Platform Designer and is using NPDME, loading the variant into System Console will cause an error such as, “Failed to initialize drivers for E-Tile Native Phy”.

To work around this issue, perform the following steps:

1.) Open the Qsys system from the project
2.) Click “Validate System Integrity” at bottom right corner of Platform Designer
3.) Click “Reload and Update all Components”, which will show that it’s reloading the component footprints
4.) Close the popup once done reloading
5.) Repeat steps 2-4 once more
    6.) Click “Generate”

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro software.
