How can I automate the Quartus II software installation?

For the Quartus® II software versions 9.0 and later, follow these steps:

1. Download the Quartus II software using the Altera installer and select the Download only and install later option.
2. Run the following command from the download location to complete an non-interactive or silent installation:
   altera_installer.exe -auto -target_dir:"<directory to install>" -program_folder:"<Windows Program Folder>"

For the Quartus® II software versions 8.1 SP2 and earlier on Windows, you can use the silent install feature of the InstallShield software, by following these steps: 

1. Create a response file that contains the answers to the questions in the installation wizard:
1. Run the setup program with the -r command line option (setup.exe -r).
2. Answer all questions and complete the installation. The InstallShield program creates a response file called setup.iss in the Windows folder on your computer.
2. Copy the response file to another folder on your computer.
3. Run the InstallShield software in the silent install mode as follows:
   setup.exe -s -f1 <path to setup.iss file> -f2 <path to log file>

No messages are displayed during silent installation. For the Quartus II software version 8.1 and earlier, messages are written to the log file specifed on the command line.
