Windows* Responsiveness on Systems with Intel® Xeon® W-3400 & W-2400 Processors

The Intel® Xeon® W-3400 and W-2400 processors are designed for high-performance desktop workstations. They are intended for users who need more CPU cores, PCIe* lanes, or memory bandwidth. The Intel® Xeon® W-3400 has more memory channels, memory capacity, PCIe lanes, and Intel® Smart Cache than the Intel® Xeon®W-2400.

• Intel is aware of reports from end users experiencing system lag while their Intel® Xeon® W-3400/Intel® Xeon® W-2400 systems are set to the Balanced power policy in Microsoft Windows*.
• System lag can include but is not limited to application start time or longer than expected response time to user interaction with the operating system.

This behavior is under investigation and solutions are being evaluated but as a temporary mitigation, users can enable the High Performance power policy in Microsoft Windows*.
