Guidance to help with random freezes and crashes when the Intel® Arc™ A770 Graphics card is installed
Seeing random freezes and crashes of the Intel® Arc™ A770 Graphics, even after a clean installation of the latest production (31.0.101.4575) and BETA (31.0.101.4514) drivers with the DDU tool.
Follow the guidance below to help with the random freezes and crashes when the graphics card is installed.
- Check the system requirements:
- Verify that your system meets the hardware, operating system, motherboard, and power supply requirements in the Intel® Arc™ A-Series Graphics – Desktop Quick Start Guide.
- Make sure that the Graphics Card is correctly seated on the full-size PCI Express 3.0 (or newer) x16 slot.
- Verify that the power supply connectors are correctly connected.
- Refer to How to Connect Power to an Intel® Arc™ Graphics Limited Edition Card for further instructions.
- Make sure that the operating system is up to date:
- Click the Start button.
- Search for Windows Update.
- Click Check for Updates and run all pertinent updates.
- Update Windows*. Select Start > Settings > Windows Update.
- Try to load the default BIOS setting in your system, or update the BIOS to the latest version.
- Refer to the motherboard manufacturer for support with BIOS updates.
- Complete a graphics driver clean installation with the latest drivers:
- Uninstall the graphics driver using the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). Refer to the steps on How to Use the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to Uninstall an Intel® Graphics Driver.
- Download the latest version of the Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - WHQL - Windows*.
- Install the driver. Follow instructions on How to Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 & Windows 11*. Use "Installation method 2: Manual".
- Repeat the three steps above if the issue persists, but use the latest version of the Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - BETA - Windows*.
