Intel® NUC Repeatedly Reboots when External USB Drives are Connected

Troubleshooting tips if Intel® NUC continually reboots when multiple external USB drives are connected.

Description

On starting the Intel® NUC, it continually restarts when the Intel logo displays.

Resolution

This may be happening due to the USB Port detection and interference with the normal boot process. Try the following to resolve the issue.

Change the USB port detection in BIOS:

  1. Press F2 during boot to enter BIOS Setup.
  2. Go to Advanced > Devices > USB.
  3. In the USB Ports pane, identify the ports the external drives are connected to.
  4. Set those ports to No Detect.
  5. Press F10 to save and exit BIOS Setup.
