Intel® Arc™ Control Overlay Unresponsive

Environment

Windows 11, 64-bit*, Windows® 10, 64-bit*

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Summary

When pulling up the Intel® Arc™ Control Overlay on certain games, the overlay appears but the cursor is not available, preventing the usage of the overlay.

Description

While playing certain titles, when the Intel® Arc™ Control Overlay is pulled up, the overlay appears on the screen over the game, but the cursor seems to be "captured" by the game, preventing the usage of the overlay. This happens specially with titles that rely on the mouse action for pointing the camera and/or a weapon.

Resolution

This is expected behavior. Many games have anti-cheat software that prevent the overlay to take control of the cursor and some games intercept for example key presses in a way that prevent Intel® Arc™ Control receiving them. Intel is looking at improving this in future releases, but this has to be done in a game-by-game basis.

One way to try to workaround this if needed, is to go to the Pause menu of the game (usually pressing "Esc" key) and let the game cursor appear. While in the pause menu, invoke the overlay and it can be used as a cursor is available in the screen.
