Description

  • When using Intel® Arc™ A770 Graphics under load it crashes frequently.
  • This article contains tips and recommendations to verify power supply state.

Resolution

  1. Verify that the cables are connected properly.

    20+4 pin ATX connector cable
    • Look at where the tab is, although it will not fit in the opposite direction anyway.
    • Place the connector on top and press it, it will go in by itself.
    • The tab is to disconnect it, not to connect it.
    4+4 pin EPS connector cable
    • This cable is easy to channel, and as a general rule it should go in the upper left area of ​​the motherboard. (Verify on the motherboards website)
    • Like the 24-pin, it has a tab and can only be connected one way.
    • Place the connector on top and press it, it will go in by itself.
    Cables with PCI-Express connector
    • Both the 6 and 8-pin connectors have tabs and can only be connected in one direction.
    • In the case of 6+2 pin connectors, the two extra pins fit under the 6-pin connector.
    • If the connector is 6+2 and the graphics card only has 6 connectors, the 2-pin part will be exposed.
       
  2. Verify the power supply is enough for your PC.
    • Power consumption is relative since it will depend on the hardware, usage, and the tasks performed.
    • One of the easiest ways to accurately tally the power consumption of the PC is to use an online power draw calculator (most of the companies that build PSU have their own power draw calculator).
    • Verify individual power consumption of the components to get an estimated value. (Use the manufacture’s website).
    • Estimate PSU Wattage.
      • Most PSUs specify the maximum number of watts they output, usually between 200 watts and 1800 watts.
      • To figure out how many watts are needed to power the computer, itemize the components with their individual power demands.

 

Additional information

  • Make sure that power supply is oriented correctly. Whether or not the power supply is modular, if the box has the mounting point on the floor of the box, the fan must be oriented downwards, since that is where the air will enter (in any case, make sure that the box has a vent in that area.)
  • If the mounting point is on top of the case, check if the box has a grill on the top, in which case we must direct the fan upwards; Otherwise, direct it downwards, although it is not ideal because it will receive hot air from the rest of the components. However, virtually all current PC cases have the mounting point on the bottom.
  • Use ties or strips to group the cables and prevent them from being tensed more than necessary, or becoming entangled with each other.
