User Presence Detection Does Not Turn Off

Description

User Presence Detection not turning off even if it's already set to OFF using the Intel® NUC Software Studio application.

Resolution

  1. Run Windows Update.
  2. Update the BIOS to the latest version.
  3. Check and configure the power option settings.
    • Go to Start menu and search for "Power & Sleep". 
    • Ensure Screen and Sleep settings are set to your expectations.
  4. Go to System Settings -> Display Settings and uncheck: Change brightness automatically when lighting changes.
  5. Disable the Human Interface Devices (HID) Sensor.
    • In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, then select Device Manager.
    • Expand Human Interface Devices
    • Right Click on Integrated Sensor Hub (ISH). (There may be more than one listed.  If so, repeat the following steps for each)
    • Select the Action tab at the top of the window.
    • Select Disable device or Enable device, and then confirm
  6. If the issue still persists, contact Intel Support for additional assistance.

Additional information

The User Presence Detection feature is a special security feature that allows you to lock the device when you are away from the computer, and then wakes it automatically when you return. You can also set User Presence Detection to not lock the computer when you are present.
