Description

System freezing when trying to enter the BIOS could be caused by multiple factors. To further troubleshoot the issue, try the steps below:

  1. Sometimes, residual static charge can build up. To resolve the issue and discharge the NUC before attempting another BIOS update:
    1. Remove the power adapter.
    2. Press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds.
    3. Repeat step 2 at least 3 times.
  2. Remove the drive from the NUC, then proceed with a BIOS update via the security jumper method.
  3. If the issue persists, Try using 1 stick of RAM (memory) at a time and try each stick of RAM in both slots to isolate if it could be a RAM or RAM-slot issue.

After doing the earlier steps and the issue is still present, contact Intel Customer Support.

Additional information

The security jumper method does not require pressing any buttons. Removing the drive is to ensure that it will read the flash drive for the update.
