Proxmox OS (Linux based) BIOS version FNCML357.0055.2021.1202.1748 UPS through USB cable (data connection)

Summary

How to fix the reboot issue on Linux OS by disabling Wake on USB from S5.

Description
  • When launching the shutdown command (shutdown and halt) from within Proxmox (Linux based), the system automatically restarts after a few seconds when connected to UPS (through USB port)
  • The NUC shuts down normally when not connected to UPS
Resolution
  1. Press F9 to Load Optimal Defaults.
  2. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  3. Boot into your Operating System.
  4. Press the power button, which triggers proper OS shutdown.

    The system will still restart.
     
  5. Press F2 during boot to access the BIOS Settings,.
  6. Navigate to the Power section.
  7. Change the USB S4/S5 Power from OFF to ON.
  8. Set Wake on USB from S5 from ON to OFF.
  9. Set USB S4/S5 Power from ON back to OFF.
  10. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  11. Boot into your Operating System.
  12. Press the Power button, which triggers shutdown.

    The system should now shutdown normally.
