How to Fix Noisy Fan Issue Even after Firmware Update on an Intel® Server Board S2600WFT and Intel® Server Board S2600ST?

Description

Server is working fine and suddenly encountered noisy fan issue. Restarting the server doesn't help and had to completely power cycle to temporarily fix the issue.

Resolution

Clean any dust on the chassis/fan and reseat the fans that are running at full speed.
Plug the server directly into the wall socket
Reseat the power supplies and ensure that they are firmly installed.
Since the Firmware is updated to its latest version and suddenly encountered a noisy fan issue, reupdate it but do it manually. Download the package from Intel® Server Board S2600WF Family BIOS and Firmware Update Package for UEFI or Intel® Server Board S2600ST Family BIOS and Firmware Update Package for UEFI.

Intel® Server Board S2600WFT boards

Run UpdBIOS.nsh> reboot/ restart the server
Run UpdME.nsh > reboot/ restart the server
Run UpdFD.nsh > reboot/restart the server
Run UpdS2600WFTFRUSDR.nsh > reboot/restart the server

Intel® Server Board S2600ST boards

Run UpdBIOS.nsh> reboot/ restart the server
Run UpdME.nsh > reboot/ restart the server
Run UpdFD.nsh > reboot/restart the server
Run UpdS2600STBFRUSDR.nsh > reboot/restart the server

If the issue still occurs after the steps above, extract System Information logs and contact Intel Customer Support for further assistance.
