What to Do if Intel® Optane™ Memory Stops Working While Accelerating a Secondary Drive

Description

The Intel® Optane™ Memory module failed and now the secondary drive in the system that was paired with it is not visible.

Note
  • If possible, back up all the information before attempting the steps below. Stored data in the secondary drive may be lost.
  • It is always recommended to perform regular data back ups in case of a hardware failure.
  1. Disable the Intel® Optane™ Memory acceleration from the application: How to Disable System Acceleration with Intel® Optane™ Memory.
    1. If it is not possible to disable the acceleration from the application, deconcatenate the Intel® Optane™ Memory from the BIOS.
  2. Clean the metadata from the Intel® Optane™ Memory and the secondary drive using the application: How to Clean Intel® Optane™ Memory Metadata Using the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management Application.
  3. Check the drive is visible under Disk Management.
