Steps to configure the host interface BMC LAN channel
The HI (host interface) BMC LAN configuration provides an alternative way to access the BMC on an Intel® Server Board from the host operating system using an internal channel between the chipset and the BMC.
To configure the HI BMC LAN channel and access BMC Web Console using it:
- Power on the system
- Press F2 to enter BIOS
- Navigate to Server Management -> BMC LAN Configuration
- Configure the IP address and Subnest Mask under HI BMC LAN configuration as desired
- Press F10 to save changes and reboot
- Boot into the host OS (in this example, Windows is used)
- Open Network Connections or network adapter settings
- Double click on the ethernet device named Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device
- Configure the IP address and Subnest mask of this device
- BMC Web Console can now be accessed using the HI BMC LAN interface configured above by opening the URL https://10.0.1.1 (the ip address configured in step 4) from a web browser
The HI BMC LAN channel is an internal channel between the PCH and BMC on the Intel® Server Board . This provides additional security compared to the KCS (Keyboard Controller Style) channels.
