Intel® NUC Does Not Turn Off After Shutting Down the System

Description

After shutting the system down, the front panel light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and the back light of the keyboard stays on.

Resolution

Download and run  Intel® Management Engine Consumer Driver for Windows® 10 64-bit for Intel® NUC if not installed yet. Then, change the Windows power management setting for the Intel Management Engine Interface:

  • Press the Windows key and X.
  • Select Device Manager.
  • Expand the System devices section.
  • Right-click the Intel Management Engine Interface and select Properties.
  • On the Power Management tab, uncheck the box for Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
  • Click OK.
  • Close Device Manager.
     

Update your Intel NUC BIOS version by following the steps below:

  1. Identify your NUC using this link: Information Needed to Identify Your Intel® NUC When Requesting...
  2. Once you know your NUC model, go to Download Intel Drivers and Software, and search for your NUC model.
  3. Download the latest BIOS version listed for your NUC.
  4. Restart your computer.
