How to Resolve “Fatal Error: System Encounter a Stopper Error” during POST on Intel® Server Board Product Family

Summary

System shows the following error while booting: "Fatal Error: System encounter A stopper Error"

Description

System hangs on POST which causes the system to freeze with a fatal stopper/error.

Resolution

This symptom can be due to bad or defective DIMM(s). To determine which DIMM(s) is causing this issue, follow below steps

  1. Generate system debug log and submit a ticket to Intel Customer Support for analysis.
  2. Perform a minimal hardware configuration (CPU1, A1 or CPU1, A1 and CPU2, A1 for dual cpu configuration) and try to boot the system to BIOS
  3. If successful, add another DIMM and so on and boot the system to BIOS every time until the offending DIMM(s) is determined
  4. Replace the offending DIMM(s) and boot the system with all the DIMMs installed
  5. Then, update the system BIOS/Firmware
