Using Intel® MAS GUI

NoteThe latest firmware version available by drive can be found in the Firmware Versions for Intel® Solid State Drives and Intel® Optane™ Memory resource.
  1. Open the application.
  2. Select the Firmware Update on the left side panel.
    • The Summary page will also display if there is a firmware update available for each of the supported drives with the current version of the application.
  3. If available, press Firmware Update as seen in the image below.

Using Intel® MAS CLI

  1. Open the operating system command line interface:
    • [Windows*] Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
      1. Click on Windows menu.
      2. Type command prompt.
      3. Click on Run as administrator.
    • [Linux*] Open Terminal with root privileges.
      1. Press CTRL+ALT+T.
      2. Type sudo su
        • Ensure the command line interface begins with # and not $, as this indicates user has root privileges.
  2. Type the following: intelmas load -intelssd <ssd_index>
    • See instructions above under Identify and display drive information for details on how to identify the drive index: <ssd_index>
    • Users can create a script to update multiple drives.
Additional information

SSDs in RAID? With the Intel® Memory and Storage Tool (CLI) the drive's firmware can be updated in systems utilizing Intel® RST, Intel® RSTe, and Intel® VROC.

Updated firmware is also supported with the following hardware RAID cards. Before proceeding in this case, first use the following command: intelmas set -system EnableLSIAdapter='true'.

Supported RAID cards:

  • MR SAS 9260-16i (RAID card chipset LSI-2108)
  • MR SAS 9270-8i (RAID card chipset LSI-2208)
  • MR SAS 9341-4i (RAID card chipset LSI-3008)
  • MR SAS 9341-8i (RAID card chipset LSI-3008)
  • MR SAS 9361-4i (RAID card chipset LSI-3108)

For unsupported configurations, customers may use MegaCli/StorCli or other tools.
