Wired Intel® 82579V Ethernet Adapter Fails on Cold Boot After Windows® 10 Update

Description

Every time the system starts from cold boot, the Intel® 82579V Ethernet Adapter shows up in Device Manager with an exclamation mark. 

Resolution

Solutions to address the issue:

  1. Update the Non-Volatile Memory of the Intel® 82579V Gigabit Ethernet. Download the NVM Update Utility and follow the instructions included to perform the update.
  2. Disable Fastboot feature of Windows® 10. Navigate to the system registry and set the Hiberboot (Fast start) configuration to "0." This is located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power.
