Description

How to connect a computer with HDMI* input to an external monitor that has a VGA output.

Resolution

It is possible to use an adapter to connect an external monitor to a computer with HDMI*, DisplayPort, VGA or any other video input,  however, we recommend using a direct connection (HDMI to HDMI, DisplayPort* to DisplayPort*, etc.). Using video adapters/converters may cause improper detection of one or more display(s) connected to your computer. The setup may or may not work with the computer due to bandwidth, incompatibility, or hardware limitation.

In this scenario, try using different cables/adapters if one is available to you. You can also check your system manufacturer's support website for validated multiple display configurations.

It is worth mentioning that if the external monitor works with another system, then it is most likely a computer limitation.
